I haven't seen Ziggy or Man Who Fell to Earth, but I know Merry Christmas has its slow bits. I recommend Basquiat (Bowie as Warhol! Righteous!) and the Last Temptation of Christ. I know he was also in some bad seventies vampire flick called The Hunger, but we may want to overlook that one.
I looked up Bowie and found some interesting starring roles. It seems he's appeared as a jewel thief in a Jeff Goldblum comedy called Into the Night, in a gang drama called BUSTED, in a treasure hunt movie called Mr. Rice's Secret as the titular character, as a wild west outlaw in Gunslinger's Revenge, and as Tesla in a Hugh Jackman/Christian Bale movie called The Prestige. He's more prolific than I'd thought.

"some bad seventies vampire flick"
Wait, is that a bad thing?
